Props Information

In order for our music video to make sense and look as professional as possible, we will need to consider how we will use props within our music video. We need to use the appropriate ones at the correct times of our music video so that it will make sense and work alongside the visuals and narrative.

For our first scene when we want the two actors lip syncing to the music. Therefore we want to add some microphones as props for these shots because it will make the singing look more realistic as if the voices in the song are their own. This will help us use performance aspects within our music video. We also hope to include instruments in some way in our music video like guitars and pianos to challenge ourselves with syncing them to the music and also add to the performance.

In this same scene we also want to include some decorations like flowers and lights in the background to make the surroundings look more aesthetically pleasing to the view and set the mood. Adding subtle lighting in the background will keep the shots quite dark and will create a silhouette effect upon the actors without making the whole shot too dark. If the shot turns out too dark and and we can't see their lip syncing we can add lighting behind the camera directed onto the actors.

For some of our flashback ideas, we liked the idea of having them taking selfies in the music video which are brought to life from the scrapbook. This is a transition idea we through of to represent some of the flashbacks through a photo album. We thought they could making it appear they are using smart phones for selfies but they are actually being taken on the camera we are filming with. In terms of props for the flashbacks, we thought about what props would be needed for certain dates they went on. We could use pop corn if they went to a cinema, we would need ice skates if they went skating, food and table and chairs if they went for a meal, etc.We then thought that including sunglasses in a selfie would like nice and we could try making an interesting transition with it, so maybe they could go to the beach or go shopping to browse and try clothes on.

To make this scrapbook idea work we will need to create our own booklet with pictures of them in to present their memories and the flashbacks we want to show. We could add other pictures of them together representing events in their past as well as what we want to show as flashbacks. We may want to add some green screens in the scrapbook so we can edit over it as footage we filmed so it comes to life. We believe this scrapbook idea will look effective and work well towards adding to the narrative because it shows them looking back on their past as well as helping the viewer to understand, and then the pictures could come to life with the scenes adding detail to the shots.

Planning our props will help us when creating our music video, as we have now considered all of the props we need to create our music video and implement when filming. This will make it easier when filming as we will have everything ready for the production, and if it doesn't go as we want, then we can always choose other props that match with the genre and story line.
