Costumes Information

In order for our music video to look as professional and as realistic as possible we will need to consider all of the possible and appropriate costumes for all of the actors in every scene. They will need to match the characters personality as well as the style of the original artists to show that we have learn't and understand our research done on our chosen artists.

In the first scene with the two actors singing into the microphones, we intend for them to wear shades of colours so that they look quite neutral and not too bold. This is because we want to draw more attention to their faces as that is where they are expressing their emotions the most (facial expression). Not showing colour of their clothing allows the attention to be draw to their faces more which will be coloured. This way it will be easier to see the lip syncing and the audiences eyes will naturally attract to their faces. This is also quite a sad song, so we don't want to use bright bold colours in this type of setting we are trying to perceive.

In the next scenes when they are walking through a town centre when a split screen is implemented, we want the actors to wear a coat as this will link in well with the narrative. The coat could suggest they are feeling cold literally as well as cold hearted. The coat keeps them warm so its used as protection because they don't want to get hurt again and trying to keep them warm, as in they have broken up and will find it hard to trust someone again. Also because now they are outside rather than inside it is keeping the outfit suitable with the weather conditions of their surroundings. We took some practice shots of the actors and intend to use this in the music video for their costumes.

Here displays them both in coats from the practice shots we took.

We liked the idea of our male actor using earphones as it helps to show the time our music video is set because of the type of technology it is, as well as making him look casual and natural like a common guy his age walking through a park as many people choose to listen to music while on walks on their own.

In the flashback scenes we want them to wear quite bright clothing because we want to represent the happier times when things were better and bright bold coloured clothes will help to perceive that. However if we can't get the colour of the clothing to match our expectations then it will not be much of a problem because we will most likely put a colour filter to black and white or lower the saturation to represent the flashback in a clear way to the audience. We would prefer bright clothing as the dark colours won't come out in the black and white, but having brighter coloured clothing will increase the pictures saturation and make the audiences eye focus on them more. The bright colours also represent the good time they had together linking in with positive memories. Depending on what dates they go on or what memories they are sharing, we will want them to where particular clothes suited for the occasion. For example if they went for a meal, they would be more dressed up.

Finally, in the shots when he is looking through the photo album we are hoping for him to wear formal dress because it will appear like he has come from an occasion where he was with her and he left her there when she spoke the truth. It will represent the moment just after and he is looking back at his memories and being upset. The walking shots represent the future when they meet again. The formal outfit will also represent that he is respectful and it makes him look more of a proper gentleman.

This planning will help us when creating our music video because when we arrange to meet for filming, us and the actors will immediately know what kind of clothing they need to wear making us more organised and prepared for filming. Being prepared will allow us to see what styles of clothes and colours work and what don't so we can make sure we do everything correctly.
